At Ranger, we understand that privacy isn't just a policy — it's a fundamental requirement of our service. Your personal security depends on how we handle your data. This Privacy Policy outlines exactly what we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and your rights regarding it.

Information You Provide Directly
When you sign up for Ranger, you provide us with foundational data needed to run your protection scan:
This is the core of what Ranger does. During your assessment, we discover publicly available data about you. We access:
Critical distinction: We discover this data because it's publicly accessible. We do not hack, breach, or access private systems. Everything in your Protection Report comes from legally accessible sources.
When you access Ranger's platform: device information, IP address, session data, and usage metrics (pages viewed, time on platform).
We maintain records of encrypted communications with your Advisor, secure messages through the platform, and documentation of remediation requests. All communications are encrypted. We retain these records to provide continuity of service.
Primary Uses
We use aggregated, anonymized data to improve our detection algorithms and identify emerging patterns. Your data is anonymized in this process. We never use identifiable information from your assessment for service improvement.
What We Never Do
We never sell your data to advertisers. We never share your information with third parties for marketing purposes. We never use your data for anything unrelated to your protection. We never monetize your information in any way. Your data is yours alone.
During your scan, we discover data points about you across the public internet — personal information on data broker sites, social media activity, public records, historical addresses, and login information exposed in previous breaches. This data already exists publicly. We don't create it. We find it.
We only retain the data necessary for your protection:
All communication between your device and Ranger uses TLS 1.3 encryption.
All stored data is encrypted using AES-256 encryption, including your Protection Report, communication logs, and assessments.
All communications with your Advisor occur through end-to-end encrypted channels. Advisor access is logged and audited.
Ranger undergoes regular third-party security audits and penetration testing. We follow NIST cybersecurity guidelines. Security assessments are conducted at least annually.
While you're an active Ranger member, we retain your data for the duration of your membership, including your scan results, reports, communication logs, and remediation history.
When you cancel, we permanently destroy all your personal data within 30 days. Backups are overwritten and log data is purged. We retain no copies after that window.
At any point, you can request that all your data be permanently destroyed. We will comply within 24 hours. Contact privacy@tryranger.ai.
Exception: Legal Obligations
In rare cases where we're legally compelled to retain data, we will notify you unless legally prohibited. We challenge unwarranted data requests.
Request a complete copy of all data we've collected about you. We'll provide this in a structured format within 10 business days.
Request deletion of any or all of your data at any time. We will delete your information within 30 days.
If information in your assessment is inaccurate, request correction. We will review and update accordingly.
You have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act. You can request disclosure of what personal information we've collected and opt-out of any "sale" of personal information (which we don't do).
If you're in the EU or UK, GDPR applies. You have rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object. We process your data based on your explicit consent.
To exercise any rights, email privacy@tryranger.ai. We respond within 10 business days.
We access licensed people-search and data broker databases to identify exposed personal data and initiate removal requests on your behalf.
We access publicly available government records including property ownership, court filings, and business registrations.
What We Do NOT Do
We do not hack into systems. We do not access private databases without authorization. We do not purchase hacked data. We do not conduct unauthorized surveillance. Everything we discover comes from legal, publicly accessible sources.
Ranger does not knowingly collect information from children under 18. However, during family protection scans, we may discover data about minor children — such as information on people-search sites or public records.
Any data we discover about minors is handled with additional encryption, restricted access, and shorter retention. We prioritize removal of minors' data from data broker networks. If you have concerns, contact your Advisor or email privacy@tryranger.ai.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. Any material changes will be communicated via your account portal at least 30 days before taking effect. Your continued use of Ranger after the notice period constitutes your acceptance of updated terms.
